Jay Brown, Managing Partner
Jay is an independent consultant with more than 20 years of experience developing ASICs and FPGAs for systems and semiconductor companies. He has held the roles of project manager, architect, design lead, and verification manager at both startups and Fortune 500 companies.
Jay has delivered ground-up architectures and designs of complex systems and has also worked with third-party IP for both design and verification. He is fluent and skilled in advanced design and verification languages such as SystemVerilog, Vera, and VHDL. He is an expert in constrained-random coverage-driven verification practices employing OOP-based methodologies.
Prior to founding Fore River Group, Jay was a founder at Top Layer Networks where he led the architecture and implementation of the ASIC and FPGA chipset that provides the underlying engine of Top Layer’s intrusion prevention systems. While at Top Layer, Jay managed ASIC projects, architected systems and algorithms, coded RTL, and led the ASIC verification team in a transition to a constrained-random coverage-driven verification methodology.
Jay also held positions at Tundra Semiconductor, Chinook Communications, FORE Systems, and National Semiconductor where he led teams in the design and/or verification of multi-million gate devices from concept to production.
Jay received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He holds two US Patents.
Jay lives with his family in Portland, Maine.
